type='text'>Thornborough Henges: Tarmac will appeal
The very welcome news that Tarmac has lost the first round in the battle to save the historic landscape around Thornborough Henges is tempered by the fact that Tarmac have announced that they will launch an appeal and that they hoped “factual evidence” would prevail at its appeal.

It is very important, therefore, that the archaeological community takes steps now to prepare to meet this new threat.

George Chaplin has petitioned Parliament with a request that “the House of Commons take all necessary steps to ensure that all quarrying activities be excluded from within a one mile radius of all the scheduled monuments known as the Thornborough Henges, these include the Central, Southern and Northern Henges, and the Thornborough Cursus.”

Please support this petition!

You can find a Word version of the petition at: http://snipurl.com/muhl

If Word doesn’t work for you, then there is a PDF version at: Welcome!
Welcome to the “EMAS News”, the new EMAS Weblog!

The EMAS website has been considerably updated, although the address still remains the same: www.emas.uk.net.

As part of the facelift the old “EMAS Forum” bulletin board has been replaced with a new weblog, which we hope will prove more popular. The weblog has two functions: firstly, it is a way to keep the website content up to date; secondly, it is hoped that it will also function as a forum where members can post articles and comment on existing posts. You can even post pictures!

More and more EMAS members have Internet access, so that the weblog is a logical step forward for the EMAS site.

We hope that you will register with the weblog, and we hope to see posts from you in the near future!

If you would like to register with the weblog so that you can post articles, please write to: weblog@emas.uk.net
